Lodging in Eastham
1. Weekly Cottage Rentals
Particpants in past seminars have found renting a cottage for a week to be an excellent lodging choice. Staying in a cottage gives you the opportunity to settle into the slower rhythm of life on the Outer Cape and also to prepare some of your meals at home. (There are several good markets nearby and most cottages come equipped with decks and grills.)
Cottages are available on both the Ocean and the Bay side of Eastham. Some cottages come with access to private beaches; others are close enough to town beaches to be able to walk or bike to the beach. Be sure to ask about beach access. If this is your first visit to Cape Cod, see the information about beaches at the bottom of this page; the beach system can be confusing at first.
Cottages in Eastham are available in a wide range of sizes and prices ranges. There are a number of real estate companies in Eastham, each with its own inventory of rentals:

Suggestion from Marcie Yeager, Summer Seminar Coordinator:
Contact Doug Macomber with Meadow Marsh at 508-255-1500. Tell him
that you will be attending the Play Therapy seminar and what you are looking
for. He has been very helpful to past seminar participants.

3. Motels
Eastham is a mostly rural town with just a smattering of motels along Hwy 6. There is only one chain hotel (Four Points Sheraton.) Most motels are individually owned. Find listings at the Eastham Chamber of Commerce website: www.easthamchamber.com
For traveler reviews, visit the TripAdvisor website: www.tripadvisor.com (According to their website, the highest-rated Easthm motel is the Midway Motel in North Eastham. This is consistent with the feedback we have received from past seminar participants. Ths motel is well-run, reasonably priced, and near the bike path. It also has a few small housekeeping cabins. www.midwaymotel.com

Beaches in Eastham
There is no lack of beaches on Cape Cod. Right in Eastham, there are ocean beaches, bay beaches and pond beaches. But the beach system can be confusing, as some beaches are private, some are managed by the National Seashore, and some are managed by the towns where they are located.

If you want to be able to walk to a beach from your cottage, be sure to mention that to your real estate agent. And, of course, the earlier you start looking, the better your choices will be.
Photo at right: A typical neighborhood beach access to Cape Cod Bay. The water in the bay is calmer and warmer than the ocean. It's nice for swimming at high tide and perfect for beach-combing at low tide.
